My Harper is totally obsessed with collectables right now - she adores her various collections and uses these great toys on a daily basis for creative play - her imagination runs wild and she really does enjoy every minute while playing with these incredibly cute toys!
Collectibles were an enormous trend for 2016, especially with miniature ranges such as Fungus Amungus and Grossery Gang for boys and Shopkins and NumNoms for girls. The trend has run over into 2017 with new ranges being added to brands.
“Collectibles are in demand. Children love them because of their cute factor but also because they are fun to play with, fun to swap with friends and of course there is the pleasure and pride of watching the collection grow,” says Chiquita Patrizi, Spokesperson for leading toy and game importer and distributor Prima Toys.
Recently Prima Toys gifted my Harper with a few new awesome Collectables, the first of which were some Genie Girls goodies!
This year sees the launch of Genie Girls, a range of collectible figurines created especially for girls aged four and up. An added element of surprise is that each figurine comes with a secret colour change. Colour change is another craze to hit South African toy shelves. Parts of the Genie Girl, sometimes it’s the wings, sometimes the hair, change to a different colour when rubbed.
With Genie Girls part of the fun lies in making a wish and then rubbing the toy to see the magical transformation.

She also received some pretty cool Smurfs! Smurfs have been around for what seems like forever, I loved them when I was a kid and my little one now does too, it is truly amazing how this incredible brand has remained so popular!
This month a new, fully animated movie is set to be released across South African cinemas. The good news for all Smurf lovers is that a new series of figurines is also available at good toy stores and retailers countrywide.

The trend of kids collecting tiny toys is growing, and now there’s a new product on the market that has a serious cute factor. They’re called Twozies because everything’s better two-gether!
Chiquita Patrizi, spokesperson for Prima Toys says that collectibles such as Twozies provide children with a “surprise and delight” element when they open the packaging.
“Children enjoy the surprise factor in a toy, especially a collectible toy. They are eager to see what character they get, hoping that’s it’s one they don’t already have or that it’s a rare one. There is also great joy in swapping their doubles with friends,” says Patrizi.
